Señor Glasgow

¡Hola! Me llamo señor Glasgow.

Though I was born in the United States, I grew up in Mexico City, where I went to local schools in both a bilingual and Spanish-only setting. I returned to the U.S. in elementary school, but I have visited Mexico many times since. I have traveled all over Europe and North and South America. My favorite place to stay in Mexico is Oaxaca, famous for its food, festivals, artwork, and pre-Aztec Zapotec ruins.

After high school, I lived in Brazil, teaching English and learning Portuguese in the giant city of São Paulo. Later, I studied at L'Università di Roma in Rome, Italy, studying Italian, European and African history. My degree in History is from the University of Texas at Austin, where I also minored in Italian. After a career in airline management, I started a web strategy company, traveling and advising companies throughout the United States. In 2007, I decided to "follow my bliss," as author Joseph Campbell put it, and became a bilingual teacher in Austin before coming to Pflugerville. This is my fifth year at Kelly Lane Middle School, where I teach World Cultures and Spanish.

I’m married and have a daughter. In our off-time, my wife and I read, watch classic movies and travel. I also like to do projects around the house and row on Lady Bird Lake.

My educator certificates include LOTE-Spanish (EC-12), Social Studies (4-8 & 8-12), History (8-12), Bilingual Generalist (EC-4 & 4-8) and Generalist (EC-4 & 4-8).

Much of the movie Coco was based on images from Oaxaca.

Colorful and full of street life, Oaxaca is also famed for the Siete Moles, the Seven Sauces of its dishes.

 Perú

Machu Picchu, high in the Andes Mountains, is the most spectacular ruin I've ever visited!

The Spanish conquerors never found this city in the clouds.
